Assay Test Kits – Animal Diagnostic Testing: Dog Products (Veterinary Biomarkers Inc.)

Dog Assay Kits for animal diagnostic testing are available as follows:
CRP assay - General inflammatory biomarker
CRP (C-reactive protein) levels increase in dog serum because of injury, infection and cancer. CRP can therefore be used to diagnose and monitor disease. The dog CRP assay uses SPARCL™ technology. See protocol for more information.
Lactoferrin (LF) assay - Fecal biomarker for IBD
Lactoferrin (LF) is a non-heme iron binding glycoprotein found in milk, feces and blood. As a component of host defense, it has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activity. In humans, it is used as a biomarker of intestinal inflammation. The utility of LF as a biomarker in dogs is under active investigation. The dog LF assay uses SPARCL™ technology. See protocol for more information.
ProCalcitonin (PCT) assay - Fecal biomarker for IBD
PCT (procalcitonin) is a potential biomarker of sepsis. Serum levels increase during bacterial infections allowing differentiation from non-infectious diseases. The dog PCT assay uses SPARCL™ technology. See protocol for more information.
S100A8 assay - Fecal biomarker for IBD
S100A8 and S100A9 are calcium binding proteins that are expressed in neutrophils, monocytes and macrophages. They exist as heterodimers and homodimers, although the heterodimer, known as calprotectin, predominates. S100 A8 and A9 are released during inflammatory disease; calprotectin is used as a serum biomarker of sepsis and a fecal biomarker of IBD in humans. The dog S100A8 assay uses SPARCL™ technology. See protocol for more information
