Electroporation Systems
BTX have developed electroporation systems that provide versatility for all research needs.
For maximum efficiency DNA vaccination delivery, the AgilePulse™ In vivo System is well suited for applications requiring high doses and robust immune responses such as gene therapy and cancer vaccines. Includes a user friendly programmable waveform generator and miniature parallel-needle electrode array.
For large-volume applications of 2 to 20 ML, the AgilePulse MAX™ System maximizes cellular uptake with minimal heating and short cycle-time to ensure high cell viability in further cell processing. Transfection protocols can readily scale-up from standard laboratory cuvettes to large-volume transfection.
The ECM® 2001 is a versatile electro cell manipulation instrument. It generates an AC waveform for benign dielectrophoretic alignment of cells. With microsecond switch-over time from AC to DC, efficient fusion can take place. After fusion AC re-application keeps cells together for the rounding off process. The DC square pulse section can be used as a stand alone powerful electroporation system with a wide range of voltages and pulse lengths capable of operating into low impedance loads.
The square wave pulse generator ECM® 830 is a powerful system with the ability to yield high transfection efficiencies for cell lines and difficult to transfect cell types including stem cells and primary cells. The ECM 830 possesses key features including finer voltage discrimination, Arc Quenching, the monitoring of all key parameters, and the control of pulse intervals.
The ECM® 630 incorporates features that make it the most technically advanced exponential decay electroporation system currently available. The revolutionary Precision Pulse System provides the researcher unparalleled power in controlling the time constant. With the ability to deliver a maximum of 6000 A in the Low Voltage Mode, the ECM 630 is the most powerful generator in its class.
The ECM® 399 is an electroporation system specifically designed to produce the precise field strengths and pulse lengths required for the transfection of mammalian and transformation of bacterial and yeast cells. The single-dial encoder simplifies the operation of ECM 399. Portable, convenient, and user-friendly are major features of this unit.
For maximum efficiency DNA vaccination delivery, the AgilePulse™ In vivo System (pictured above) is well suited for applications requiring high doses and robust immune responses such as gene therapy and cancer vaccines. Includes a user friendly programmable waveform generator and miniature parallel-needle electrode array.
For fast, efficient hybridoma production as a first step in monoclonal antibody production, the Hybrimune™ Electrofusion Production System is the solution. This system includes an innovative fusion chamber design, BTXpress Cytofusion® medium with tri-phasic electric field pulses that quickly position cells and disrupt cell membranes for maximum cell fusion efficiency.

High Throughput Electroporation Systems
The BTX High Throughput (HT) Systems, offer multi-well electroporation technology for processing multiple samples in seconds. Using the HT Multi-Well plates instead of traditional cuvettes, the researcher can transition from a single cuvette to either a 96 well or 25 well electroporation plate by using one simple plate handler.
The HT Systems (ECM 830 or ECM 630) are comprised of 3 components - the HT Multi-Well Plates, an HT Plate Handler and the BTX ECM 830 or ECM 630 Generators. The HT plate handlers are compatible with the ECM 830 and 630 and some older ECM 830 and 630 generators.
For efficient transfection for 50 to 1000 ML volumes, the newly released BTX AgilePulse™ HT System is specifically engineered for high throughput volume applications and uses automated batch processing of smaller volumes ensuring uniform electroporation with minimal sample heating. Patented Pulse Agile® technology combines a unique sequence of short high-intensity pulses to porate cell membranes, followed by long low-intensity pulses to further drive transfectants into cells via electrophoresis, while maintaining cell viability.

Electrofusion Systems
The ECM® 2001 is a multipurpose Electro Cell Manipulation generator capable of producing a proprietary AC waveform for benign dielectrophoretic alignment of cells, and a square DC waveform for cell fusion. Applications include Cell Fusion; Nuclear Transfer; Embryo Manipulation; Hybridoma Production; Mammalian Cell Transfection; Plant Protoplast Fusion and Stem Cell Production.
Microsecond switch-over time from AC to DC allows for highly efficient fusion. After fusion, the AC pulse reapplication maintains compression of the cells following the DC pulse for the rounding off process; resulting in a higher number of hybrids. The 1 MHz AC pulse aligns cells together in “real time”, saving time (seconds vs. hours) in comparison to PEG methods. Blastomeres and Oocytes can also be aligned to the correct position for better fusion accuracy during nuclear transfer and embryo manipulation.
Microinjection System
The BTX MicroJect 1000 MAX (MJ 1000) is an alternative method to deliver genes, proteins, macromolecules and micro-beads by direct injection into cells, tissues and oocytes simply
and efficiently. This microinjection system provides a reliable, consistent and precise delivery of volumes through stable pressure regulation maintaining this pressure for a set duration of time, controlled digitally.
The compressed gas internally controlled pressure system, allows the precise delivery of desired volumes ranging from femtoliters to microliter volumes. The MJ 1000 MAX is capable of holding a cell, oocyte or early stage embryo stationary while simultaneously using a separate pressure channel for injections. The MJ 1000 MAX is versatile enough to provide
the same consistent performance needed to inject large volumes into tissue such as capillaries, or pico volumes, for nuclear injections. It is also ideal for the gentle transfer of delicate fetal or stem cells into oocytes.
